Baykar is a Turkish dronemaker. Its Bayraktar TB2, a medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) drone costing around $5m, is the most popular military drone in Africa and outcompetes Chinese models. More than 500 TB2s have been sold to over 30 countries. Saudi Arabia has a $3bn deal to co-produce the more advanced Bayraktar Akinci.
Baykar is building a factory in Kyiv as part of deepening defence ties between Turkey and Ukraine.
Baykar has a joint venture with Leonardo, an Italian defence firm, which is eyeing the stealthy Kizilelma fighter drone as a "loyal wingman" to fly alongside the planned sixth-generation GCAP future fighters being built by Britain, Italy and Japan. Turkey's drone industry has been one of the country's defence-export successes.
