EHang

EHang is a Chinese maker of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, headquartered in Guangzhou. Its chief executive is Hu Huazhi. In March 2026 it became the first eVTOL company in the world to receive a licence to carry passengers commercially, and is planning to start offering flights to the public in Guangzhou and Hefei.

EHang's two-seat vehicle has 16 propellers arranged in a circle around the passenger cabin and flies autonomously. The company sold 216 aircraft in 2025, mainly to local governments and state-owned firms hoping to set up tourism businesses, though bureaucratic approvals for regular service were still pending. For the time being EHang is focusing on sightseeing trips that start and end in the same place; point-to-point flights could take another year.

EHang was founded five years after Joby Aviation, one of America's leading eVTOL companies. Mr Hu argues that Chinese firms can iterate faster by leveraging the country's manufacturing strengths and accumulating experience through actual flights in China.
