Onafriq is a South African fintech that enables cross-border payments across Africa. It has a collaboration with MTN, a mobile-network operator, allowing users to make instant cross-border payments using mobile money. Its boss, Daré Okoudjou, has expressed scepticism about a new regional payments-settlement system that was supposed to ease pan-African transactions, saying slow and patchy implementation means it could amount "to nothing".
