Kuwait is a Gulf monarchy on the western shore of the Persian Gulf. It has no alternative export route to the Strait of Hormuz, unlike Saudi Arabia and the UAE, which have bypass pipelines.
During the third Gulf war that began in February 2026, six American soldiers were killed and several aircraft shot down by friendly fire over Kuwait in the first week. America closed its embassy in Kuwait. Drone strikes hit the country. After a ceasefire was announced around April 8th, Iran targeted Kuwait's power and water-desalination plants, the truce notwithstanding.
