J Street is critical of the Israeli government's policies, particularly the expansion of settlements in the West Bank, but considers itself pro-Israel. It has moved into the Democratic mainstream as many Jewish Americans have grown uncomfortable with Israel's treatment of Palestinians. Over the four years to 2025 its budget rose by more than 50%.
