British-born magazine publisher who bought TED in 2001 for $14m when it was considered kaput amid the dotcom crash. He served as its "curator" for nearly 25 years, turning it into a charity and harnessing the internet to distribute its talks worldwide. When he appealed in February 2025 for someone to oversee TED, around 100 entities stepped forward; some valued the organisation at $1bn. In October 2025 TED announced a management transition rather than a sale: Anderson will stay on, focusing on fundraising and philanthropy.
