Hilary Cass is a British paediatrician who authored an influential review of gender-affirming care for the NHS, published in 2024. The Cass Review concluded that most of the science underlying the prescription of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones to teenagers was "remarkably weak". She recommended that doctors and scientists gather better data through clinical trials. Following her report, the NHS forbade the prescription of puberty blockers except as part of a clinical trial. Dr Cass also raised concerns that children who take puberty blockers almost always go on to further treatment.
