Paul Biya is the president of Cameroon. At 92, he is the oldest head of state in the world and runs a country with a median age of 18. His 43 years in power put him second on the global list of longest-serving leaders (excluding monarchs), behind Teodoro Obiang of Equatorial Guinea. He sometimes runs the country from the Intercontinental Hotel in Geneva. In his earlier days he deftly spread jobs among elites from different tribes and parties. Dozens of Cameroonians who protested against him in 2020 remain in jail. He seems keen on his son taking over, though the son would lack his father's legitimacy.
I'm still waiting for the advent of the computer science groupie.
